It all started one night in Scotland with our founder,
Piper Madden...
"When I was 19, studying in Scotland, I attended a traditional ball called a ceilidh - a form of British country dancing where everyone learns a lively choreography, in groups or partners, and dances it together just a few minutes later. Everyone in the room got involved, turning and spinning around and laughing. Then something extraordinary happened. A man asked me to dance, and over the course of the dance, I fell in love with him.
We conversed between dances, then we danced again. The next pattern passed us steadily and rhythmically down a circle from man-to-man and lady-to-lady in a quick exchange, until we locked eyes a few partners out and suddenly found ourselves in each other's arms again —surprised at the reunion, all we could do was laugh.
After that moment, I parted from him.

briefly step into
a romance film."

Our Story
This is what
The Ten Talents does.
The Ten Talents hosts events where regular adults arrive as strangers and leave as people who have laughed and danced together and briefly lived inside a feeling most of us have only ever seen in movies. We are
building a movement. One that returns
dance to the center of the elegant
occasion and gives everyday men and women the experience that has always — in every culture, across every century — been humanity's most natural
language for romance, belonging, and connection. Every person who walks through our doors joins this story. And every dance they share is one more piece of evidence that the world is capable of magic."
Come dance with us.

Trial Ball

I spent years seeking this feeling: training as a professional dancer; attending social dance communities; and I finally decided: America needs this. Not in private studios. Not in niche hobbyist circles. But in the center of a great American party —in a historic mansion, in your best clothes,
with people you might never see again and
might never forget.
At our first trial ball, nearly every
single guest approached me personally
to tell me it was the greatest ball they had ever attended. One guest wrote publicly:
"I've never seen anyone dance in such a magical
way. I feel like I now know what it's like to briefly
step into a romance film."
I had a boyfriend at the time. But as I was walking home that night, my world fell apart. During the next few weeks, I held onto the memory of that dance. It was evidence to me that love was not naive but very real, and that there was such a thing as a man that could make me feel lovely.

It gave me evidence that a single shared moment
—four minutes
on a ballroom floor-
could be strong enough
to carry you through some of the hardest weeks of your life.
I never saw much of that man again.
But I will never forget that dance.
